I am very pleased to have been selected for this years ING Discerning Eye Exhibition.

The Discerning Eye annual exhibition is a show of small works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics.

My piece 'Knitting' was selected by Mervyn Metcalf.

The exhibition, usually held at the Mall Galleries in London, will be online only this year due to Covid-19.  It is now available to view using the link below, and the exhibition will continue online until December the 31st.

'It's an absolute tragedy that, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there will be no Edinburgh Festival this year - the city will feel it's loss sorely, and we will all miss the buzz and excitement of those few weeks. However, we will still have our amazing Festival Exhibition on show, featuring a fantastic range of artists including
Featured Artists: May Byrne, Catriona MacEachan and Martin Hill'

The exhibition is open now and runs until the 30th of August.  All work is also available to view on the website: https://www.torrancegallery.co.uk/currentexhibition

Maggie's Penguin Parade

12/7/2018

Earlier this year I spent some time painting a penguin for Maggie's penguin Parade here in Dundee.  The penguin parade is a free and accessible public art and cultural event that see's 'a colony of colourful giant penguins invade the city of Dundee during 2018'.  The trail went live on 29th June and will be live all summer culminating in a grand farewell event in Slessor Gardens on 22 and 23 September before a spectacular auction on 24 September 2018.  The project will raise funds for Maggie's Dundee, a charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends.

My penguin, entitled Journalism, can be found outside the McManus Galleries, opposite the DC Thomson building. My design draws inspiration from Dundee's famous history in publishing.  To illustrate this, the design features a depiction of the DC Thomson building on the front, the cover of the first issue of the Dandy on the back, and scenes from the printing industry on either side.
