As galleries start to reopen, I will have work in two different exhibitions this month and next. I am currently exhibiting at Gallery Q in Dundee as a featured artist in their 're-opening' exhibition (their first physical exhibition since March). The exhibition will run until the 15th of August. Temporary opening hours for the gallery are: Wednesday: 11am - 3pm Thursday: 11am - 3pm Saturday: 11am - 3pm Sunday: 11am - 3pm Appointments are also welcome outside these times. I have 14 pieces in the show, and all work in the exhibition can be seen online here: https://www.galleryq.co.uk/exhibition/re-opening-exhibition/ I will also be exhibiting for the first time at the Torrance Gallery in Edinburgh as part of their 'no-festival festival show'. 'It's an absolute tragedy that, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, there will be no Edinburgh Festival this year - the city will feel it's loss sorely, and we will all miss the buzz and excitement of those few weeks. However, we will still have our amazing Festival Exhibition on show, featuring a fantastic range of artists including Featured Artists: May Byrne, Catriona MacEachan and Martin Hill' The exhibition is open now and runs until the 30th of August. All work is also available to view on the website: https://www.torrancegallery.co.uk/currentexhibition Temporary opening hours: Monday to Friday : 11.15am - 4.15pm Saturday & Sunday : 11am - 4.30pm

The penguin parade is a free and accessible public art and cultural event that see's 'a colony of colourful giant penguins invade the city of Dundee during 2018'. The trail went live on 29th June and will be live all summer culminating in a grand farewell event in Slessor Gardens on 22 and 23 September before a spectacular auction on 24 September 2018. The project will raise funds for Maggie's Dundee, a charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends.
My penguin, entitled Journalism, can be found outside the McManus Galleries, opposite the DC Thomson building. My design draws inspiration from Dundee's famous history in publishing. To illustrate this, the design features a depiction of the DC Thomson building on the front, the cover of the first issue of the Dandy on the back, and scenes from the printing industry on either side. My first exhibition of 2018 will be a solo show taking place at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh. The exhibition, entitled Re:Work, will be comprised of twenty pieces, both paintings and drawings.
The show will be open on the 8th of January and will run until the 17th of February. The private view will be on the 12th of January 5pm-8pm and all are welcome to attend. https://www.leithschoolofart.co.uk/ |
